Born Racer, the highly anticipated film about five time Verizon IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon is an absolutely fantastic documentary that follows the Iceman over the course of the 2017 season.
The documentary not only gives you an insight into what goes on at the track during the race weekend but the film also follows Scott and his wife Emma away from the track and shows how much his family life means to the New Zealander.
We also hear from Scott’s Mum and Dad about him growing up and how proud they are of what he has accomplished during his career to date.
There is also a fantastic insight from Kate Gundlach who is assistant engineer on Scott’s No.9 Honda, she goes into great detail about the strategies behind the races and it is great to see the information and insight that she was able to give over the course of the film.
Team owner Chip Ganassi speaking very candidly about Scott but also about Dan Wheldon and how Dan’s death affected the entire IndyCar community and what it is like for him as one of the most successful team owners in IndyCar history.
It is very clear from the film and my own personnel experience that the IndyCar Series is one big family and they support each other and that makes a huge difference when drivers and teams are away from their families, it is not just a sport but a community.
