Williams Martini Racing’s technical director Pat Symonds saying that keeping Valtteri Bottas in 2017 is key to the Grove based outfits succeess.

Williams will field rookie Lance Stroll alongside Valtteri Bottas and Symonds believes that there would be significant consequences for the Grove based outifit if they were to lose Bottas to Mercedes.

Symonds told Gazzetta Dello Sport that sometimes people underestimate the importance of continuity.

Williams have rejected an initial offer frlm Mercedes for Bottas while McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso has committed his future to the Woking based outfit meaning that the only other option for Mercedes is Pascal Wehrlein, however the Mercedes board are keen to grt Bottas saying that they are not worried about Bottas’ existing relationship with Head of Mercedes Motorsport Toto Wolff.
