Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas was the fastest driver in Free Practice One at the Portimao circuit ahead of Sunday’s Portuguese Grand Prix. The Finn ended the morning with a fastest time of 01:18.410s ending the session 0.339s ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen was third fastest just ahead of Charles LeClerc and Alexander Albon. McLaren Racing’s Carlos Sainz was sixth fastest ending the session 1.031s behind Bottas.
Sergio Perez was seventh for the BWT Racing Point Formula One Team just ahead of Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen’s Kimi Raikkonen who ended the session 1.544s behind his countryman. The Iceman has a new engine in the back of his Alfa this weekend and will be hoping he has a strong weekend.
The Renault F1 Team’s Daniel Ricciardo was ninth while Pierre Gasly rounded out the top ten for Scuderia Alpha Tauri. Sebastian Vettel was eleventh fastest for Ferrari, 1.790s ending the session just ahead of McLaren Racing’s Lando Norris and Daniil Kvyat while the Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen was 14th just ahead of Lance Stroll.
Antonio Giovinazzi and Romain Grosjean were 16th and 17th respectively just ahead of George Russell and Esteban Ocon who suffered what was possibly an engine failure on his in lap. Nicholas Latifi rounded out the order in 20th place for the Williams RacingTeam.
