Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas ended day 3 of the opening winter test at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya fastest.
The Finn, who drove the W08 in the morning session set a fastest time of 01:19.705s, the fastest time of the three days so far.
It was another strong day for Ferrari as Sebastian Vettel was second fastest with a time of 01:19.952s completing 139 laps (the most of any driver today).
Daniel Ricciardo was third fastest for Red Bull Racing ending the day nust ahead of the Renault Sport F1 Team pairing of Jolyon Palmer and Nico Hulkenberg who shared the driving duties in the R.S17.
The Sauber F1 Team’s Marcus Ericsson was 6th fastest completing 126 laps in the C36.
Lewis Hamilton was seventh fastest for the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team who had a very special guest in the garage as world champion Nico Rosberg stopped by to check out the new cars.
The Haas F1 Team’s Romain Grosjean, on his first day in the VF17 was eighth fastest completing 56 laps with a fastest time of 01:22.118s.
Williams Martini Racing had a difficult day as Lance Stroll suffered two accidents, one in the morning and one in the afternoon session. The Canadian completed 98 laps in the FW40 ending the day in ninth overall with a fastest time of 01:22.351s.
McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso rounded out the top ten, completing 72 laps ending the day just ahead of his fellow Spaniard Carlos Sainz who was 11th for Toro Rosso, setting a fastest time of 01:23.540s.
Sahara Force India’s test and reserve driver Alfonso Celis was 12th fastest in the VJM10 completing 71 laps with a fastest time of 01:23.568s.
Daniil Kvyat who shared the Toro Rosso STR12 with team mate Carlos Sainz Jr rounded out the order in 13th place completing 31 laps with a fastest time of 01:23.952s.
The opening test concludes tomorrow.
