Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas took his 19th career pole position for Sunday’s Mexico City Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez having set a time of 01:15.875s and starts the race just ahead of Lewis Hamilton while Max Verstappen starts the race from third place having been held up on his final run.
Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez starts his home race from fourth place just ahead of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz while Pierre Gasly starts the race from sixth place. Daniel Ricciardo starts the race from seventh for McLaren just ahead of Charles Leclerc. Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen have been elevated into the top ten thanks to penalties for Yuki Tsunoda and Lando Norris who start the race from the back of the grid.
Antonio Giovinazzi starts the race from 11th just ahead of Fernando Alonso and Nicholas Latifi, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. George Russell has a five-place penalty for a gearbox change. Esteban Ocon also has a penalty. Lance Stroll will start from the back of the field following his heavy crash coming out of the final corner in Q1 and making heavy contact with the wall.
