Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas ended the second day of the second winter test at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya fastest having set the pace in the morning session.
The Finn completed 70 laps ending the day just ahead of his former Williams team mate Felipe Massa.
Bottas set a benchmark of 01:19.310s. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest however the Finn’s day came to a premature end after he spun the car at Turn 3 hitting the barrier breaking the front wing and damaging the suspension.
The Iceman completed 53 laps with a fastest time of 01:20.406s.
Max Verstapppen was fourth fastest in the Red Bull RB13 despite stopping on track twice. The Dutchman completed 102 laps for the day (the most mileage of any driver on day 2).
Lance Stroll completed 59 laps for Williams Martini Racing in the FW40 ending the day with the fifth fastest time.
Lewis Hamilton completed 79 laps for the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team recording the 6th fastest time of 01:20.702s.
Nico Hulkenberg was seventh fastest for the Renault Sport F1 Team ending the day just ahead of his former Force India team mate Sergio Perez.
Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz was ninth fastest while Romain Grosjean rounded out the top ten for the Haas F1 Team completing 96 laps with a fastest time of 01:21.887s.
Pascal Wehrlein was 11the for the Sauber F1 Team ending the day just ahead of McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso with Marcus Ericsson in 13th place.
Jolyon Palmer rounded out the order for the Renault Sport F1 Team completing 29 laps. Testing continues on Thursday.
