Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas took his third victory of the year as the Finnish dominated the 2017 Formula One season ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Bottas started the race from pole position and led the race from lights to flag.
World champion Lewis Hamilton finished the race in second place just behind Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.
Kimi Raikkonen was fourth in the second Ferrari just ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen. The Renault Sport F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg secured sixth place in the championship for the Enstone outfit finished the race in sixth place.
Force India’s Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon ended a fantastic season for the Silverstone based outfit as they came home in seventh in hiand eighth place respectively.
Fernando Alonso gave McLaren something to smile about in their last race with Honda power as he finished the race in ninth place.
In his final ever Grand Prix, Felipe Massa rounded out the top ten for Williams Martini Racing.
The Haas F1 Team’s Romain Grosjean was 11th just ahead of McLaren Honda’s Stoffel Vandoorne. Kevin Magnussen finished the race in 13th place just ahead of the Sauber F1 Team’s Pascal Wehrlein.
Brendon Hartley finished the race in 15th place just ahead of his team mate Pierre Gasly who recovered from an early spin to finish 16th.
Marcus Ericsson was the final finisher for the Sauber F1 Team just ahead of Williams Martini Racing’s Lance Stroll. Carlos Sainz retired from the race after his front left wheel was not secured properly during his pitstop while Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo also retired from the race with a hydraulic issue.
An interesting statistic was that Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel all scored 13 podium finishes this season.
