The Verizon IndyCar Series returns to Gateway Motorsports Park this weekend for the first time since 2003 for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500.
Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais makes a welcome return to the series following his accident at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May.
The Frenchman’s return to racing adds a huge element of excitement to the championship battle because although he is not a contender this season he could prove to play a key part in the destination of the title.
Bourdais took a fantastic win at the season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg in March and he will be a contender for podium finishes and wins.
Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden heads into the race this weekend with an 18 point lead in the championship over Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon.
