The ROKiT Venturi Racing Formula E team have provided an update on the accident that Edoardo Martara suffered during practice on Saturday morning ahead of tonight’s race two in Saudi Arabia.
The team’s initial investigation has found the accident was as a result of brake failure.
At the close of Free Practice 3 for the 2021 Diriyah E-Prix, ROKiT Venturi Racing driver Edoardo Mortara was involved in a frontal collision at Turn 18 of the Riyadh Street Circuit.
The Swiss-Italian was immediately extracted from the car and taken to hospital for precautionary assessments in-line with FIA safety regulations. Edo was conscious and talking throughout.
Initial evaluations suggest that the accident was a result of brake failure. The team will continue to investigate this thoroughly ahead of Qualifying and race sessions.
