Formula One commercial director Sean Bratches says he is sorry that the sport is losing the Malaysian Grand Prix.

It was announced on Friday that this year’s Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit will be the last Malaysian Formula One race.

The event made its debut on the Formula One calendar in 1999 which was won by Ferrari’s Eddie Irvine.

Although Bratches is disappointed that the sport is losing Malaysia he is excited about the return of the French Grand Prix which last took place in 2008. The 2018 race will take place at the Paul Ricard circuit.

The German Grand Prix will also return to the calendar in 2018.
