Formula One has gone and shot itself in the foot, following a meeting of the World Motorsport Council on Thursday it has been decided that for next weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix, the extremely controversial and unpopular elimination style qualifying which was witnessed for the first in Australia last weekend will remain in place.

The decision comes despite the fact that on Sunday morning ahead of the Australian Grand Prix the team bosses held a meeting where it was decided that they would from Bahrain revert back to the 2015 style qualifying.

During the meeting a change to Q3 was proposed but was not voted for and speaking to Reuters Formula One commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone commented saying:

The outcome I think is that we are going to stay as we are, After Bahrain, we’re going to have a look at it.
