M-Sports new signing Sebastien Ogier kicked off the defense of his World Rally Championship in style on Sunday as he took victory at the Rallye Monte Carlo, giving M-Sports their first rally victory in 5 years with the new Ford Fiesta EccoBoost WRC.
it was a great event for Toyota as in their first event returning to the sport the team scored a podium finish with Jari Matti Latvala finishing the rally in second place while Ogier’s M-Sport team mate Ott Tanak completed the podium in third place.
Dani Sordo was fourth in the Hyundai Motorsports I20 ending the rally just ahead of Ireland’s Craig Breen who brought his Citroen DS3 home in fifth place. It was a great send off for the DS3 as Breen will switch to the C3 WRC for the next event in Sweden. Elfyn Evans ended the rally in sixth place just ahead of the Skoda pairing of Andreas Mikkelsen and Jan Kopecky.
Citroen Racing’s Stephane Lefebvre was ninth in the new C3 ending the rally just ahead of Bryan Bouffier who rounded out the top ten. The next event on the calendar, the Rally of Sweden takes places from February 9-12.
