Ireland’s Craig Breen did a fantastic job for the Citroen Racing team as the French manufacturer returned to the World Rally Championship on a full-time basis at the Monte Carlo Rally.
Breen, driving last year’s Citroen DS3 WRC was a contender throughout the weekend. The Waterford native was consistently in the top ten through the event.
Heading into the final day on Sunday, Breen was in fourth place and by the time the event finished on Sunday, he and co-driver Scott Martin brought their DS3 home in fifth place behind winner Sebastian Ogier, Jari Matti Latvala, Ott Tanak and Dani Sordo.
Breen was the leading Citroen driver with team mate Stephane Lefebvre in the new C3 ending the event in ninth place while Kris Meeke in the second C3 was forced to retire on Saturday.
Breen will get the new C3 for the next round of the championship, the Rally Sweden which takes place from February 9-12.
