The M-Sports World Rally Championship team had a great start to their 2017 season in the shakedown stage of the Rallye Monte Carlo on Wednesday evening.
In the brand new Ford Fiesta Eccoboost, defending world champion Sebastien Ogier won the stage with team mate Ott Tanak coming home in third place in the second Fiesta.
Ogier set a time of 2m 18.1s while Tanak was a further 1.9s further back. Speaking to WRC.com following his move from Volkswagen to M-Sports, the Frenchman commented by saying:
It’s a new season in every sense of the word – a new era, a new car and a new team, We all know that experience is an important factor in rallying and it would have been nice to have had more time with the team, but we have learnt a lot over the past month. Over the years, I have learnt to be pragmatic in my approach and to focus on the job in hand. That is exactly what we plan to do this week. We’ve not had a lot of preparation, but we go to this first event determined to do our best.
