McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown says enough is enough after championship leader Max Verstappen collided with Lando Norris during Sunday’s Mexican Grand Prix not once but twice.
Verstappen forced Norris off the track at Turn 4 and again at Turn 10 earning the Dutch driver a pair of ten second penalties.
Following the race, Verstappen was also given two penalty points.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1HD following the race which was won by Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, Brown said:
“I mean, it’s getting a bit ridiculous. I applaud the FIA stewards. Enough is enough. Let’s just have some good clean racing moving forwards.
Lando Norris finished the race in second place and as a result has closed to within 47 points of Max Verstappen with just four races remaining in 2024.
Speaking following the action, Norris said:
It was a good race but a very tough race. Over the first few laps, a lot of it was just trying to stay in the race and avoid any crashes. With Verstappen, I knew what to expect, and I just tried to avoid it. I think in the end, we were probably the quickest car today. We’re doing a very good job as a team, so we’ll keep our heads down, keep focused and keep pushing. A big thanks to all the team, and then the fans today, they make this race very enjoyable.”
Oscar Piastri came from 17th to finish the race in eighth place and with the double points finish, McLaren are 29 points clear of Ferrari who overtook Red Bull Racing in the championship thanks to Carlos Sainz’s victory in Mexico while Charles Leclerc came home in third rounding out the podium.
