Team Penske tire changer Caitlyn Brown says that it feels special that she is the female over the wall crew member to win the Indy 500.
Brown was part of the team that helped guide Josef Newgarden in the No.2 Shell Team Penske Chevrolet to his maiden Indianapolis 500 victory in Sunday’s chaotic 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
Brown moved across to Penske’s IndyCar Series team following a spell with their NASCAR team and worked with Paretta Autosport during their debut Indianapolis 500 in 2021.
Speaking about her victory with Josef Newgarden, Brown said:
To be the first female tire changer over the wall to win the Indy 500 is pretty special to me. I’ve put in a lot of hard work for it, but I couldn’t be here without family and friends from back home and all the other people like my teammates who have helped me along the way. It’s a team win through and through, and it’s special to be a part of.”
