McLaren CEO Zak Brown and new team advisor Gil De Ferran will attend this weekend’s Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear as the Woking based outfit intensifies their search for opportunities to join the Verizon IndyCar Series full-time in 2019.

De Ferran who worked alongside Fernando Alonso at last year’s Indianapolis 500 is working with McLaren on the Verizon IndyCar Series programme.

The trip to the Detroit Grand Prix is the second such trip for McLaren officials after several key personnel from the company joined the Verizon IndyCar Series for the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this month.

Paddock Eye understands that two time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso will make the move to the Verizon IndyCar Series with McLaren in 2019.
