Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson says that building on his friendships with Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon has been one of the highlights of his time working with Chip Ganassi Racing in the NTT IndyCar Series during the 2022 season where he was competing full-time.
Speaking to Paddock Eye during a media availability session on Tuesday, Johnson said getting to work with Marcus Ericsson and Alex Palou and getting to work with them and getting to know the pair on a personal level has been brilliant.
Johnson said that working with the senior management at Chip Ganassi Racing and Chip himself has been a great experience.
Outside of the Indianapolis 500, Johnson told us that just being able to drive an IndyCar at full-speed around different race tracks on the calendar was fantastic.
Johnson said that LeMans is one of his bucket list items but that it is still too early to announce what his plans are for the future, he also said that he might like to do the double with the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona.
Johnson said that he truly feels like part of the family at CGR and that they are working hard to put something together to return to Ganassi in some shape or form next season.
