Former Formula One driver Jenson Button believes that NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Colton Herta has the right mindset to succeed in Formula One.
The 2009 Formula One world champion believes that Herta will make the move from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES to Formula One in 2026 when Cadillac make their Formula One debut.
Herta had a fantastic 2024 INDYCAR campaign finishing second in the championship behind Alex Palou.
Speaking during Sky Sports F1HD’s Qatari Grand Prix coverage, Button said:
Yes I think he’ll be quick from the word go, there’s obviously a lot of learning, it’s very different to IndyCar but I think he’s got the mindset.
While Andretti Global will not be involved in the F1 entry, Mario Andretti will serve on the board of directors of the Cadillac F1 Team.
Speaking to Paddock Eye last week following his appointment to the Cadillac program, Andretti said that he will be a part of the driver selection process but wouldn’t say who the team are looking at.
