AJ Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci, who ended the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday in third place, says that Michael Cannon describes engineering as racing 101. Speaking to Paddock Eye about the race setups of the INDYCAR SERIES, Furrcci said that it is Cannon’s way of doing things procedurally. The setups on the cars around the paddock are similar. Everybody is identical regarding diffs, geometries, roll centers, aero, and ride heights. So, there is nothing special going on there.
So Mike is just trying to bring in some of his knowledge from years past. I have the experience of working with him before. The thing with dampers is that every place is different; every place has its custom way of doing things and getting things done.
So Mike is trying to figure things out, working with my engineer Danielli to get the best out of the dampers to suit my driving style, and we are getting closer every time we get to the track. I am excited for when we get it right on road and street courses and show everyone what we can do.
