The Verizon IndyCar Series only team owner/driver Ed Carpenter in the No.20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet was the pace setter at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as preparations for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil continued.

Carpenter set a fastest speed of 222.894mph completing 52 laps. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 NTT DATA Honda was second fastest, completing 47 laps with JR Hildebrand in the No.21 Preferred Freezer Services Chevrolet ending the day in third place.

McLaren Honda Andretti driver Fernando Alonso had his best day to date in the No.29 Honda setting the fourth fastest time with a speed of 219.533mph completing 39 laps for the day.

AJ Foyt Racing’s Conor Daly in the No.4 ABC Supply Co Chevrolet ended the day in fifth place just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Max Chilton while Carlos Munoz made it two Foyt cars in the top ten with a speed of 218.840mph while Indianapolis 500 rookie Zach Veach made sure that Foyt had all three of their cars in the top ten ending the day in eighth place just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Charlie Kimball.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Jay Howard in the No.77 Honda rounded out the top ten. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Tony Kanaan in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda ended the day in 11th place.

Graham Rahal in the No.15 Steak N’Shake Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing ended the day in 12th place completing five laps.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Mikhail Aleshin was 13th fastest despite completing just two laps during the day. James Hinchcliffe was 14th fastest in the No.5 Arrow Honda having completed 8 laps with a fastest speed of 216.333mph.

Josef Newgarden in the No.2 Hum by Verizon Chevrolet was 15th fastest for Team Penske just ahead of Jack Harvey in the No.50 Michael Shank Racing with Andretti Autosport. Dreyer and Reinbold’s Sage Karam in the No.24 Chevrolet ended the day in 17th place just ahead of Takuma Sato in the No.26 Honda for Andretti Autosport.

Alexander Rossi in the No.98 NAPA Auto Parts Honda for Andretti Herta Autosport was 19th fastest just ahead of his team mate Marco Andretti in the No.27 United Fiber and Data Honda.

Oriol Servia was the final driver to set a time in the No.16 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda who ended the session in 21st place.
