NTT IndyCar Series team owner Ed Carpenter has ruled out providing Fernando Alonso with a car for the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 24.
Carpenter who hopes to have three cars in the field for ‘The Greatest Spectacle In Racing’ with him in the No.20, Conor Daly in another car and rookie Rinus Veekay in the No.21 Sonax/Autogeek.com Chevrolet.
Carpenter has confirmed that his team turned down an approach from Fernando Alonso’s team for the 500.
Speaking to NBC Sports Carpenter said that in order for the team to run a fourth car they would need money and personnel and that is something his team don’t have.
The only other option for Alonso would appear to be Arrow McLaren SP however Paddock Eye understands that the team have yet to decide whether or not they will run a third car however running Alonso appears unlikely as the double F1 world champion is no longer part of McLaren.
