Helio Castroneves lead a Team Penske 1,2,3 in the second practice session with a 01:16.6678s while championship rivals Will Power and Simon Pagenaud ended the session in second and third place respectively.

Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda was the fastest Honda powered car in the second session setting a fastest time of 01:16.9757s in fourth place.

Alexander Rossi in the No.98 Castrol EDGE/Curb Honda was fifth fastest despite shutting off the car on the start/finish straight as the session came to close as he reported on the radio to Bryan Herta that his Honda engine was misfiring.

Juan Pablo Montoya in the No.2 Verizon Chevrolet was sixth fastest making it four Penske cars in the top six setting a fastest time of 01:17.1836s.

Carlos Munoz was seventh fastest in the No.26 hhgregg Honda for Andretti Autosport ending the session just ahead of KVSH Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Charlie Kimball. Max Chilton rounded out the top ten with a fastest time of 01:17.3276s.

Marco Andretti in the No.27 Snapple Honda ended the day just outside the top ten in 11th place just ahead of Ed Carpenter Racing’s Josef Newgarden. Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe was 13th fastest in the No.5 Arrow Honda setting a fastest time of 01:17.4150s.

Tony Kanaan in the No.10 NTT DATA Chevrolet was 14th fastest just ahead of the No.41 ABC Supply Co Honda AJ Foyt Racing of Jack Hawksworth.

Scott Dixon in the No.9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet was 16th fastest with a time of 01:17.7009s ending the session just ahead of Takuma Sato and Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot.

RC Enerson was 19th fastest in the No.19 Boy Scouts of America Honda for Dale Coyne Racing ending the session just ahead of Graham Rahal in the No.15 Steak N’ Shake Honda.

Mikhail Aleshin was 21st fastest for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in the No.7 SMP Racing Honda ending the session just ahead of Conor Daly in the No.18 Jonathan Byrd’s Hospitality and Restaurant Group Honda who rounded out the order in 22nd place following a huge engine failure with just under 5 minutes left in the session.
