Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves will restart Saturday nights Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway from seventh place.
The Brazilian driving the No.3 AAA Insurance Chevrolet is currently in fifth place in the Verizon IndyCar Series points standing having retired from Monday’s ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway.
Castroneves has secured three Verizon P1 Awards this season but has yet to win a race in 2016, something he hopes he can change on Saturday when the Firestone 600 resumes from lap 72. Castroneves who has been with Roger Penske’s team since the year 2000 has yet to win a Verizon IndyCar Series title.
Castroneves has, however won the Indianapolis 500 three times including as a rookie in 2001.
The Brazilian is hoping that he can take victory at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday night as he feels the track suits him. Speaking about the race this weekend he commented by saying:
I’m very happy to be going to Texas, a place where the AAA Insurance Chevrolet team has had some success. We need it about now. We’ve gotten caught up in stuff the last couple of races. We’ll keep fighting. You can count on that. We’ll restart seventh, which isn’t bad. There are 177 laps or so to go, so we have plenty of racing left and an opportunity to make good things happen. We need to get back to the consistency we had earlier in the season. That’s what got us to this point.”
