Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Pennzoil Chevrolet led the opening 20 minute practice session on day one of qualifying for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.

The Brazilian set a fastest speed of 229.505MPH while Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Oriol Serbia in the No.64 Scuderia Corsa/Manitowoc Honda was second fastest with a speed of 226.717MPH.

James Davison was third fastest in the No.33 Foyt/Byrd/Belardi Chevrolet with a speed of 226.596MPH.

Graham Rahal was fourth fastest in the No.15 United Rentals Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with a 225.293MPH.

Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 Menards Team Penske rounded out the order in fifth place with a 137.494MPH.
