Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Hitachi Chevrolet set the fastest time in the final practice session ahead of Sunday’s ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway.
The Brazilian ended the session just ahead of Andretti Autosport’s Carlos Munoz. Verizon IndyCar Series points leader Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 Menards Chevrolet was third fastest for Team Penske.
Following a tough qualifying session it was a better practice session for KVSH Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais who ended the session in fourth place in the No.11 Team Hyrdoxycut Chevrolet ending the session just ahead of reigning series champion Scott Dixon while Juan Pablo Montoya in the No.2 Penske Truck Rentals Chevrolet.
Pocono pole sitter Mikhail Aleshin in the No.7 SMP Racing Honda ended the practice session in seventh place just ahead of Ed Carpenter and Will Power.
James Hinchcliffe rounded out the top ten in the No.5 Arrow Honda. The Canadian ended the session just ahead of Tony Kanaan in the No.10 NTT DATA Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing. Josef Newgarden ended the session in 12th place for Ed Carpenter Racing in the No.21 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet.
Ryan Hunter Reay who missed qualifying this afternoon ended the evening session in 13th place in the No.28 DHL Honda.
Takuma Sato was 14th fastest for AJ Foyt Racing ending the session just ahead of team mate Jack Hawksworth in the No.41 ABC Supply Co Honda. Charlie Kimball was 16th fastest for Chip Ganassi Racing.
Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi was 17th fastest in the No.98 Castrol/EDGE Honda ending the session just ahead of team mate Marco Andretti in the No.27 UFD/Snapple Honda. Max Chilton ended the session in 19th place.
Graham Rahal was next up ending the session just ahead of Dale Coyne Racing’s Conor Daly and Pippa Mann.
