Mario Andretti has confirmed to the IndyCar Series radio network that during the off season there will be changes made to Andretti Autosport ahead of the start of the 2017 season.
Andretti confirmed that his son and Andretti Autosport CEO Michael Andretti is set to step down from his role as son Marco’s strategist.
Marco Andretti has really struggled in the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season and is currently in 17th place in the series standings on 291 points. It has also been rumored that one of the changes for next season will see Marco Andretti and Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi switch seats with Rossi stepping up alongside Ryan Hunter Reay and possibly Carlos Munoz.
Andretti is expected to move to Bryan Herta Autosport’s side of the operation.
