Chevrolet have had a strong first half of the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season with Team Penske’s series points leader having taken victory in the season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.

Simon Pagenaud swept the month of May in the No.22 Menards Chevrolet winning the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis and the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 26.

Josef Newgarden took victory in the opening race of the Detroit double header at the start of June while the Tennessee native took his third victory of the season in the DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway last weekend.

Newgarden heads to the REV Group Grand Prix of Road America with 25 point lead in the championship over Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi.

Not only have Team Penske been quick off the mark this season but Carlin Racing have shown great signs of improvement in 2019 having made their debut in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2018.

Team Penske have dominated the podium in 2019 as they are the only Chevrolet powered team to have scored podium finishes this season.

If last year’s race at Road America was anything to go by Josef Newgarden and Team Penske might well be once again the team to beat at Elkhart Lake.
