Carlin Racing’s Max Chilton in the No.59 Gallagher Chevrolet will be hoping to get his season back on track with Detroit double header this weekend after missing the double points 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge last weekend.
Speaking ahead of the event this weekend he said:
“We had a tough end to our month of May, so I’m looking forward to resetting and getting back into the swing of things in Detroit this weekend. I’ve always enjoyed racing on Belle Isle – it’s a very physical and bumpy circuit, but the racing is always great and the fans really embrace the series. I’ve loved seeing how the city of Detroit gets behind the race and really turns the doubleheader into a huge city-wide event. It’s no secret that these two races make for a long, physical weekend for us as drivers, but I’m up to the challenge and I know the No. 59 Gallagher Carlin Chevrolet will come off the truck strong .”
Patricio O’Ward also returns to series having failed to qualify for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500.
Speaking about the races this weekend he said:
I’m excited to get back in the car this weekend. I actually got to race in Detroit in 2017 and it was an event that I really enjoyed in IMSA, so I’m looking forward to going back with the big boys in an Indy car. I hope it’s a good weekend for us, especially after such a tough end to our month of May. We’ve had a lot of speed, but unfortunately, we’ve just had a lot of bad luck and struggles. I really hope that we can turn that around at the doubleheader this weekend in Detroit and get some solid results.”
