The NTT INDYCAR SERIES returned to racing on Saturday following a three week break for the Olympics.

The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway took place in Saturday night.

One driver who went into the race with plenty of momentum was Andretti Global’s Colton Herta in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda having won the previous race in Toronto just before the Summer break.

Herta started Saturday’s race from 25th place and carved his way through the carnage to end the event in fourth place but was classified in fifth following a blocking penalty.

Herta has had a solid and consistent sesson to date as with four races remaining in 2024, the Californian finds himself in second place in the championship, 59 points behind championship leader Alex Palou.

Speaking following Saturday nights race, Herta said:

“I can’t be that mad, we had an awesome run today. Although, I am disappointed that I just got knocked off the podium. It would have been awesome to get on the podium starting on the last row, but this is still some of the best INDYCAR racing. Passing was plentiful and it was easy to get around guys when you had a better car, but you still had to work at it. I’m super happy with the Gainbridge Honda. It was super fast and we showed that all night. Now we’re ready to take on Portland.”
