Scott Dixon’s consistency this season helped the Iceman to secure his fifth Verizon IndyCar Series championship last weekend in the season finale Grand Prix of Sonoma.
The Iceman completed all 17 races of the 2018 season completing a total of 2,364 laps over the course of the year. Dixon who has been with Chip Ganassi Racing for 18 years in the Verizon IndyCar Series won three races on his way to the winning the championship.
Speaking following the race in Sonoma, Dixon described his No.9 PNC Bank crew as he his second family with most of his crew having been with him since he joined Chip Ganassi Racing in 2002 in CART before moving to the Indy Racing League with the team in 2003.
Dixon has shown this season how fast he is and it has been fantastic to watch him race this year.
The team have been extremely successful over the 2018 season and this has been down to fantastic pit-stops by the Wolfpack, the team also have extremely talented engineers such as data engineer Danielle Sheperd, assistant race engineer Kate Gundlach, spotter, Robbie Fast and chief strategist and Chip Gnaassi Racing managing director Mike Hull and of Chip Ganassi himself.
Dixon thanked PNC Bank who came onboard as primary sponsor to the No.9 Honda and when the Iceman returned to Chip Ganassi Racing’s Indianapolis HQ on Thursday following his IndyCar champion media tour he received a wonderful reception from PNC Bank employees who were visiting the Chip Ganassi Racing HQ.
