The excitement is building in Toronto as officials at the Honda Indy Toronto have confirmed that construction has started on the circuit ahead of next month’s race at Exhibition Place.
The Honda Indy Toronto takes place on July 16. Speaking about the process, which was undertaken by a crew of 200, Honda Indy Toronto president Jeff Atkinson commented by saying:
Each year the crew gets more efficient with the construction and tear-down process. “The logistics of night construction comes at a greater cost to us, but the time savings is significant in completing the track build. We transform the streets into a world-class racetrack while showcasing the beauty of our city to a worldwide TV audience.
Most of the construction work at Exhibition Place takes place at night. Team Penske’s Will Power took victory here in 2016 while home favourite James Hinchcliffe from Schmidt Peterson Motorsports secured a third place finish.
The Mayor of HinchTown will be hoping to be in a position to challenge for the win in front of his home crowd.
