The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series grid is taking shape nicely as another piece of the puzzle has been put in place with the news that Brazilian teenager Matheus Leist has joined Tony Kanaan at AJ Foyt Racing.

The news means that as it stands Dale Coyne Racing are the only team who have a full-time seat available for the 2018 season.

Juncos Racing have already confirmed that they will run Kyle Kaiser on a partial schedule for the 2018 season as a result of the prize money he received for winning the Indy Lights championship in 2017.

Harding Racing have confirmed they will run Gabby Chaves full-time next season. There has been radio silence from Trevor Carlin in relation to his plans to enter the series full-time next season.

Charlie Kimball says he is certain he will be back in the Verizon IndyCar Series full-time in 2018 having been released from Chip Ganassi Racing who have streamlined their operation from four to two cars with Ed Jones joining Scott Dixon.

Ed Carpenter will once again run a partial schedule in the No.20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet for 2018, the ECR team owner was at Texas Motor Speedway on Wednesday along with series champion Josef Newgarden of Team Penske as the pair carried out manufacturer testing for Chevrolet.
