Dale Coyne Racing announced on Friday that they have entered into a season long partnership with Rick Ware Racing to run its No.51 and 52 NTT IndyCar Series entries this year.
The 51 entry will be entered as Dale Coyne with RWR and replaces the No.19 and No.55 previously run by DCR.
The team will add a third car for the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 30.
Speaking following the announcement Dale Coyne said:
We were introduced to Rick Ware at last year’s Indy 500 where he ran James Davison in our third entry. “It was interesting to see how similar his efforts in NASCAR Cup and IMSA were to ours. We have talked ever since that event and we are excited to welcome Rick Ware Racing into our family at DCR.”
The team are expected to confirm their second driver next week after Dale Coyne with Vasser Sullivan Racing announced Ed Jones earlier this week.
Former driver and NASCAR team owner Rick Ware commented saying:
“I met Dale last year through our Indy efforts with David Byrd and struck up a friendship with him and his team. “I have thought a long time about expanding into IndyCar from our efforts in NASCAR Cup, Xfinity and IMSA, so this collaboration, was an easy and logical step. We look forward to a competitive 2021 and beyond together.”
The 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season kicks off on April 18 at Barber Motorsports Park.
