AJ Foyt Racing’s Conor Daly is hoping that the team can be contenders for a podium finish this weekend as the Verizon IndyCar Series heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis.
Daly who came close to finishing on the podium here last season with Dale Coyne Racing heads home following a successful test at Gateway Motorsports Park.
Speaking ahead of the race this weekend, he stated:
I love the GP of Indy. I think it’s an awesome way to kick off the festivities of the Month of May. It’s a home race, so it means a lot to me and we came very close to being on the podium last year, so I hope to be in contention again this year.
Daly’s team mate Carlos Munoz heads to Indianapolis with fond memories of finishing on the podium on the oval in the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil with Andretti Autosport last year.
Munoz believes the key to being successful on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course is good mechanical grip.
The Indy GP track is one that I think a lot of people like. You can overtake, but at the same time, it’s really tricky because you’re going with low downforce, so you need a lot of mechanical grip on the car.”
