Conor Daly says that questions need to be answered as to why it took INDYCAR race control so long to through the caution during race two in Iowa last weekend following Sting Ray Robb’s accident.
During his Speed Street Podcast, Daly said that coming into Meyer Shank Racing last weekend, he and Simon Pagenaud have entirely different driving styles and that being on different teams is an adjustment to your craft. We got trapped two laps down, he said. We had a tough first stint, a bad yellow; We felt good in the race.
It was a different feel. It’s a wild deal. We were confident going into race two and returned late in the stint. Our guys in the pits were unbelievable.
My goodness, gracious. I almost had a tire in my lap, which was not fun. Crazy to see that tire; I don’t know how we didn’t go yellow quicker. I think we should have been yellow as soon as that car was limping back to the pits, so I think there are definitely going to be some questions about that. This time I saw the tire; two years ago at Indy I never saw the tire it basically came from the sky like an alien.
