Paddock Eye have reached the end of our 12 Best moments of the 2018 IndyCar Series season and for day twelve, it’s Scott Dixon who is number one.
The Iceman secured his fifth Verizon IndyCar Series championship with Chip Ganassi Racing at the season ending Grand Prix of Sonoma.
Dixon led the way ahead of Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi and Team Penske’s Will Power.
The 2018 season was the final year of his current Ganassi contract however, despite interest from other teams the Iceman signed a contract extension with Chip Ganassi Racing.
Dixon had some continuity in 2018 with PNC BANK coming on board as full time primary sponsor to the No.9 Honda.
The Iceman’s first podium finish of the season came at the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis in May where he came home in second place.
The result was just the start for Scott as he finished thirs in the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
In race one of the Belle Isle Grand Prix in Detroit, Dixi claimed his first victory of the season.
Dixon followed this win up with a victory in Texas at the DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway.
At the Kohler Grand Prix, Dixon finished in third place. At the Honda Indy Toronto, the Iceman took a commanding victory. At the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway, Dixi finished in third place and followed that up with another third place at the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Motorsports Park.
Dixon finished off the season woth a second place in Sonoma which was enough to see him take his fifth title.
