Citroen Racing’s Sebastien Loeb took victory for the French manufacturer at Rally Spain. The Frenchman took victory by 2.9s over M-Sport’s Sebastien Ogier while Eflyn Evans completed the podium in third place.
Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville finished the event in fourth place just ahead of Dani Sordo and Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Ott Tanak who rounded out the top six.
Esppakke Lappi ended the event in seventh place just ahead of Jari Matti Latvala while Ireland’s Craig Breen finished the event in ninth place while Andreas Mikklesen rounded out the top ten.
Speaking following the event, Loeb commented by saying:
It is incredible, I couldn’t believe that! I tried my best, I struggled every morning to get the rhythm except this morning. I managed to get the feeling back with the car and I could push. Great satisfaction for sure, I didn’t believe I would win a rally again. I’m not thinking about next year yet.
Craig Breen commented saying:
A bit demoralising to be honest, we had great speed. We could have been among the fastest but we kept having set backs and having moments. I’m trying to build the confidence but it is tough when you keep having these moments, the positive is at least the speed is there.”
