NBC Sports announced on Tuesday that veteran NTT INDYCAR SERIES play-by-play announcer Leigh Diffey will take up the same role as lead play-by-play announcer with the NASCAR Cup Series beginning this weekend in Daytona with Coke Zero Sugar 400.
Most recently, Leigh was NBC Sports lead play-by-play announcer for the 2024 Paris Olympics for the track and field coverage.
Diffey has been the voice of the Indianapolis 500, the Greatest Spectacle In Racing for NBC over the last six 500’s.
Diffey has also commentated on Formula One, NASCAR, IMSA and the 24 Hours of LeMans.
NBC also announced on Tuesday that long-time commentator and host of the Trackside podcast with Curt Cavin, Kevin Lee will assume the lead play-by-play announcer role as NBC Sports close out the coverage of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES before the sport moves to Fox for 2025.
