Reigning Verizon IndyCar Series driver Scott Dixon in the No.9 Target Chevrolet showed extremely fast pace on the opening day of practice at Watkins Glen on Friday.
Dixon, who has won here three times from 2005-2007 topped both practice sessions on Friday and told Paddock Eye that the Target car rolled off the truck fast. Dixon also believes that his team mate’s Max Chilton, Tony Kanaan and Charlie Kimball will be fast for today’s qualifying session.
Kimball suffered a mechanical issue with the rear of his No.83 Tresiba® Chevrolet on Friday afternoon but ended Friday’s opening session just outside the top ten in eleventh place.
Chip Ganassi Racing will be able to use what they learnt from Dixon’s car on Friday for the other three cars in their stable. Tony Kanaan was also very quick on Friday with the Brazilian ending both sessions on Friday in fourth place so it can be expected that the NTT DATA and Target teams will be up st the front today.
