Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda goes into tonight’s Desert Diamond West Valley Casino Phoenix Grand Prix at ISM Raceway aiming to bounce back from a tough qualifying on Friday.
The Iceman will start the race from 17th place, however the New Zealander has plenty of experience and expertise with Mike Hull in his ear to help him move forward in the race.
Dixon knows what it takes to win here having taken victory in 2016, so expect him to make his way through the field and back up to the front in no time at all. Speaking following Friday’s qualifying session, the four time Verizon IndyCar Series champion commented by saying:
I’m really not sure what happened. We struggled a bit too in the session earlier today with overall grip. We just had a lot of understeer in Turn 4 and the car just wanted to break loose and take off. We just missed the balance with the PNC Bank car, and if you do that on a short track like this you really pay the price in the lap times.
Dixon heads into the race tonight in sixth place in the series standings on 28 points following his sixth place finish in the season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg last month.
