Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda scored his 59th career victory and seventh win at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar course on Sunday.
This season is Dixon’s 21st straight season with a victory which is a fantastic record.
Dixon started the race from ninth and came through the field. In the closing laps, Alex Palou who had been leading the race from pole made an uncharacteristic mistake at turn nine running wide meaning Dixon took the lead and won the race.
Palou said it hurts and said at the end of the day they should be proud of their weekend and he holds a 113-point lead in the championship.
Christian Lundgaard came home in third place just ahead of Colton Herta and Pato O’Ward.
It was a great home race for Meyer Shank Racing as Felix Rosenqvist and Marcus Ericsson ended the race in sixth and seventh respectively.
Kyle Kirkwood of Andretti Global was eighth just ahead of Rinus VeeKay who came through the field to finish the race in ninth place.
Kyffin Simpson started the race from third but was handed a drive through for hitting one of Rinus VeeKay’s crew members on pit-road after stalling, he recovered to finish tenth.
Nolan Siegel who started fourth came home in 12th just ahead of PREMA Racing’s Callum Ilott.
Alexander Rossi was 15th just ahead of the AJ Foyt Racing duo of Santino Ferrucci and David Malukas.
Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Sting Ray Robb and Conor Daly ended the race 18th and 19th.
Devlin DeFrancesco rounded out the top twenty just ahead of Robert Shwartzman and Jacob Abel.
Scott McLaughlin was 23rd just ahead of Graham Rahal.
It was another disastrous race for Team Penske as Will Power suffered an engine failure while Josef Newgarden retired.
Honda Racing Corporation USA has now gone ten for ten on the season.
