Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon is excited about the run in to the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series, with five remains in the season, the Iceman leads Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves by three points as the teams and drivers head to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Honda 200.

Dixie was at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car course on Thursday for pre-race test along with Felix Rosenqvist with the pair sharing the cock-pit of the No.9 Honda.

Dixon heads to Mid-Ohio next weekend in search of his fifth win at the sports car course having last won there in 2014. The New Zealander has had a fantastic 2017 season having won the Kohler Grand Prix at Road America.

The test on Thursday gave Dixon the perfect opportunity to get a baseline set up heading into next weekend’s race particularly having the Honda engine in the back of the No.9 NTT DATA Honda this year.

It was Rosenqvist’s second test with Ganassi in the No.9 car having tested the No.9 Target Chevrolet at Mid Ohio last year with Dixon on hand. Speaking to about Rosenqvist Dixon said:

He’s a huge talent,”  “Right now, I think he’s got a lot of options, whether it’s Formula E or racing in Japan or throughout Europe. Hopefully he can make it to the (Verizon) IndyCar Series at some point.

Rosenqvist felt that he was able to gather some good data for the race next weekend and Dixon was also very happy with how the test went and will be well prepared for the race where he will be hoping to extend his points lead in the championship.
