Defending NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing is looking forward to going after his second Indianapolis 500 win in just over three weeks time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Iceman will start his 17th consecutive Indianapolis 500 later this month and is hoping to add to his impressive record of one win in 2008, and 11 top ten finishes in the ‘Greatest Spectacle of Racing’. Speaking to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway website on Friday, Dixi who goes into the month of May in third place in the championship said:

“For me, I think your inner confidence definitely gains over the years, but you have to be careful that you don’t get complacency with that, too, and thinking everything is going to be OK. The hard work never stops, but I think your direction about being positive about it and not being too down about things improves.

Dixon spoke about the 2019 Indianapolis 500 which takes place on May 26 saying:

“I think everybody was kind of maxed (on downforce last year). “There’s not a big shift in downforce levels now, and your max, everybody pretty much runs in race running, no matter what the conditions are. For the ‘500’ this year, we should be able to cover a bigger temperature span.
