Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon says he is fully focused on winning his fifth Verizon IndyCar Series championship despite rumors linking the Iceman with a move to McLaren for the 2019 season.
Dixon who finished third in the Kohler Grand Prix on Sunday to extend his lead in the championship to 45 points as the series heads to Iowa is out of contract with Chip Ganassi Racing.
It was reported over the weekend that Dixon has been approached by McLaren about racing for their new IndyCar car in 2019.
Dixon has confirmed he has spoken to McLaren CEO Zak Brown however the New Zealander said that he has known Brown since 1999 and speak on a regular basis.
Paddock Eye understands that Dixon has been approached by McLaren if Fernando Alonso decides against a full-time nove to the Verizon IndyCar Series next season with McLaren.
