Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon heads into today’s action at the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio sports car course following an extremely strong start to his weekend where he finished the opening day of track activity in third place.

The Iceman heads into qualifying leading the championship by three points from his main title rival Helio Castroneves.

Dixon has had a fantastic season as he took victory at the Kohler Grand Prix at the Road America circuit last month. The New Zealander has scored five podium finishes to date this season, there are five races remaining this season and Dixi is aiming for his fifth Verizon IndyCar Series championship this year.

The Mid-Ohio sports car course is one of Dixon’s favourite circuits on the Verizon IndyCar Series schedule.

Dixon is the most successful driver at the Mid-Ohio sports car circuit having won here five times. It will be interesting to see how he gets on during Saturday’s running with the Honda power unit in the No.9 NTT DATA car.
