Defending NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon driving the No.9 PNC Bank Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing says he hopes that this year will be his year to claim top stop in the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park.
The Iceman goes into the race in third place in the championship following a tough race last time out at the Circuit Of The Americas in Austin Texas.
Speaking ahead of the race he said:
Barber is demanding. It’s like a little bullring almost. It’s very fast and very high grip. There are both fast and blind corners and it can get narrow in some places as well. The facility itself is one to see. The track has done a great job with the park over the years and it attracts a lot of people which is great for our sport. I think I’ve finished second there more than any other track we’ve raced at. Hopefully, this will be the year to get the top step on the podium for the No. 9 PNC Bank team.”
Felix Rosenqvist who in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda is unsure what to expect from the race this weekend saying:
Heading to Barber, we have a few things to validate following COTA, where we set the fastest lap of the event in qualifying but struggled a bit in race trim. We believe we have found the reason for this and it will be interesting to see how we fare in Alabama. The track will take its toll on the tires, especially the front left, so management and race execution will be key to a good result. I’m not quite sure how the layout will suit us, but I’m keen to get back behind the wheel of the NTT DATA Honda and find out.”
