Six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion and five-time Texas Motor Speedway race winner Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC BANK Chip Ganassi Racing Honda felt that the team had a pretty good day.
The Iceman starts Sunday’s 250-lap race, the PPG 375, at Texas Motor Speedway from the front row in second place. He aims to extend his record-breaking winning streak in Texas while also looking to break legend Mario Andretti’s top-five finishes, which stands at 197 races. Dixon ended the final practice session on Saturday in P1, and speaking following the action, he said:
I think we had a pretty good day, for all of the Ganassi cars. Would’ve been nice to qualify one place higher [the
pole], but we’re on the front row. It was nice to get some ‘high line’ practice in as well [in the session following qualifying], so we’re pretty pleased with everything, to be honest. Looking forward to tomorrow.
President and Technical Director of Honda Performance Development, David Salters, spoke about today’s qualifying in Texas, saying:
“Big shout out to Chip Ganassi Racing and Scott Dixon for a great performance to earn a front row start in Texas. The teams and HPD have been working hard for this very specific track. There’s still work to do, but a lot can happen here in the race. We’re looking forward to
tomorrow. It’s great to be in Texas, y’all! Yee-Haw!
Dixon’s five wins at Texas Motor Speedway came in 2008, 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2021.
