Six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda says that he hopes to the momentum from his win today at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach into next weekend’s Children’s Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park. Speaking to Paddock Eye after scoring his 57th career NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory, Dixon
Barber has been interesting. Second six times. Never won there. The goal was always to try and step on the top step again.
We had a really good test at Barber. Only probably half of the grid did, so it will be interesting to see how that applies. Then I think once we get to Indy the following week, the other half of the field tested there. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
Yeah, you have to be good at all these tracks. They’re all very different, very difficult. Probably looking forward more to Barber than Indy road course. I’m looking forward to the month of May.
The Iceman, not only scored his 57th career victory, it was his 138th podium finish, leaving him just six short of Mario Andretti. Dixon went on to say:
We went into the race thinking there would be more cautions, but those didn’t come. So I didn’t really follow the fuel number that we needed during the first part of the race, and that almost caught up with us later. But it’s a credit to the team that they were able to react and adjust.
This is an Acura/Honda home race, with all their associates here, so huge thank you to everyone at HRC and Honda. Obviously, that mega fuel mileage from Honda is what got us to victory, so that was huge. I love winning here. This is big.”
It was also a great race for HRC (Honda Racing Corporation), as they scored a podium sweep. Andretti Global’s Colton Herta finished second, and Alex Palou came third. Koji Watanabe (President, Honda Racing Corporation) on today’s podium sweep for
Honda at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach:
“I’m very, very happy. A Honda power 1-2-3 podium sweep at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, fantastic! Thank you to everyone at
HRC and our teams. Thank you to our fans. Thank you all very much.”
