Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon is not approaching the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma any differently to other races, despite just being three points behind championship leader Josef Newgarden.

The Iceman goes into next weekend’s race aiming to win his fifth Verizon IndyCar Series championship.

Dixon has scored one victory this season which came in the Kohler Grand Prix at the Road America circuit. The New Zealander has been extremely consistent this season having scored seven podium finishes this season, one less than championship leader Josef Newgarden.

Dixon will join Newgarden and the rest of the Verizon IndyCar Series field at Sonoma Raceway next week ahead of the season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma which takes place from September 15-17.
